Situated in the heart of Ontario’s most historical town, Coniagas #4 Shaft, site #13 attracts tourists from around the world. This magnificent structure currently houses a small restaurant that seats approximately 26 people at one time.
The atmosphere is down to earth but the aroma from the homemade cooking is heavenly. We serve Organic Fair Trade coffee and it is the best coffee around. I hand pick a lot of berries from the local area which I make into jams and jellies, teas and juices or desserts. I also pick other wild edibles such as fiddle heads, asparagus, cattails and dandelions to use in my recipes.
The bannock is a favorite for locals as well as visitors. It is a very simple “Indian fry bread” that goes well with anything on the menu. Tossed in a cinnamon sugar, it also makes a great dessert.
